About us.

Nether Glengenny Farm is an 11 acre, self sufficient smallholding situated alongside the River Nith, 4 miles south of Sanquhar and 8 miles north of Thornhill. Our aim is to produce our all own meat, vegetables and fruit, as featured in the 'Health and Wellbeing' section of the Herald daily newspaper and also discussed on Moray Forth Radio. We are surrounded by mixed cattle and sheep farms with borders of woodland. This gives us a very diverse environment with regular visits from Roe Deer, Buzzard, Barn Owls and Red Squirrels.
The present farmhouse was built in 1903 from stone obtained from the bottom field. The original farm is believed to be at least 300 years old with evidence of occupation still visible in the steaddings.
Here at Glengenny we offer you the chance to relax in the surroundings of a beautiful part of South West Scotland, to see and do as much or as little as you wish.
You can either take part in the fully involved smallholder breaks that we run throughout the year or Bed and Breakfast and use us as a base for touring the area.
As the River Nith borders our land there is a great opportunity to take advantage of the salmon and trout fishing with permits available from the Upper Nithsdale angling club.
